WHAT IS PASHMINA?
Pashmina symbolizes the country’s rich cultural heritage, a source of livelihood for its people, and a sustainable product that respects and values the environment. Purchasing a pashmina supports the Himalayan farmers who rear Changra to sustain their livelihood. Each purchase helps preserve a centuries-old Himalaya tradition and keeps the story of mountain people, their hardship, the hand that spun the yarn, resilience, and craftsmanship alive.

How we do it
Fiber Sourcing
The process commences with the gentle collection of pashmina fibers from the underbelly of the indigenous Himalayan mountain goats, primarily the Mustang breed. These goats, adapted to the harsh mountainous terrain and extreme weather conditions, yield a fleece renowned for its unparalleled softness and warmth. Experienced herders delicately comb the goats' undercoat during the molting season, ensuring minimal stress to the animals. The collected fibers, known as "pashm," form the precious raw material for the creation of luxurious pashmina products.
Fiber Processing
Upon collection, the raw pashmina fibers undergo meticulous processing to unlock their full potential. This stage involves several intricate steps, including cleaning, sorting, and spinning. Skilled artisans meticulously remove impurities from the fibers, ensuring purity and consistency in texture. The sorted fibers are then carefully spun into yarn using traditional spinning wheels or modern machinery, maintaining the delicate balance between softness and strength. Throughout this process, sustainability and ethical practices remain paramount, honoring both the natural environment and the livelihoods of local communities.
Product Making
With spun yarn in hand, artisans embark on the final leg, transforming pashmina fibers into exquisite products that epitomize timeless elegance. Utilizing traditional weaving techniques and skilled craftsmanship, they meticulously create a range of luxurious items, including shawls, scarves, wraps, and blankets. Every piece is infused with Nepalese heritage, marked by intricate embroidery and meticulous finishing touches. From start to finish, each product reflects a profound commitment to quality, sustainability, and the preservation of Himalayan craftsmanship.
